About Cam: Street Food, Budget Restaurants & Travel
Hello! I’m Cameron Cobb. When I was younger, I wasn’t exposed to a wide range of culinary options. As I entered college I started working in restaurants and made friends with some chefs. I was exposed to new ingredients and cooking styles. The world of culinary options became more apparent to me. My eyes and palate were opened and I learned how complex and delicious food could be! I needed to explore this new culinary world! A few years later I traveled to Europe for the first time and was introduced to street food, amazing restaurants on a budget and new cultures. I started making friends from all over the world.
Now I was hooked on food and travel!
While planning a trip around the world, the house I was living in burned down. My roommates and I were away but nearly all of our stuff was destroyed. See how this led me to pursue my dream of travel, and pieces from the 33 countries I visited in 1 year in the video below.
What Really Matters? Lessons from 1 Year of Travel
During my year of travel around the world, I started writing about my experiences and the tastiest food I could find while sticking to my travel budget.

Why Street Food & Budget Restaurants?
There’s been a recent surge of street food vendors Western world putting out incredible food. They’ve learned that food trucks & stalls offer lower costs and more versatility than traditional restaurants. These advantages also allow them to focus on one thing and that which is most important, the food. For these reasons, street food is one of my biggest passions.
“The more street food we have, the more it’s embraced by every income strata, the better world we have.” – Anthony Bourdain
In addition, many local restaurants around the world offer great food at affordable prices. When street food isn’t widely available, or if the prices and menu looks too good to pass up, I try to identify great budget restaurants as I travel.
I can’t get enough of the great food this world has to offer. I hope to help you share in these culinary experiences with me on this blog.

What am I Doing?
During the process of planning for long-term travel, the house I was living in burned down in mid-2014. No one was injured but nearly everything I owned was destroyed. Within a year I quit my job and headed out to travel the world solo, starting in Iceland.
Every food truck, street vendor and restaurant I walk by, I’m looking at the dishes and peering into each kitchen. By sharing the best of what I find, I hope to direct readers to new and incredible food.

My goal is to find the best dishes at affordable prices in each city I visit and then share them with you. Whether my favorite meals are found at street food vendors, in budget restaurants or cooking (another personal passion), I hope that you will enjoy.

I rarely write about food in my blog, but you inspired me to write more about it. I will. Soon. Hopefully. 😉 I always try to eat local food, but not always on budget. Depending how big the budget is. 😛
Sam,
I’m happy to hear I inspired you to write more about food on your blog. I don’t always eat on a budget but more of the time I do and there are many great meals and deals to be found. Thank you for the comment Cheers!
